A PET IS FOR LIFE

According to ASPCA 5 - 7 million pets enter animal shelters in the United States every year.
Out of those numbers...3 - 4 million pets are euthanized.

In this article is steps that everyone needs to take in order for us to help our furry friends.

Spay and Neuter Your Pets.

It's not torturing them, and it won't do anything but give your pet a happier healthier life. Males and females can suffer from many different types of cancers when not fixed. They have hormonal urges that they cannot control. Female dogs have monthly menstrual cycles and males feel the need to constantly mark their territory with their urine.

The main thing on an un-fixed pet's mind is one thing....I MUST REPRODUCE!

The pet population is out of control. Control it by a simple half day procedure, by dropping your pet off at the vet in the morning and picking up in the evening. It's as simple as that.

A Pet is a Life Commitment.

Do your research!!! How much will this pet cost you?! Diet? Habitat? Toys? Life span? Can you afford this pet? Do you have the time? Will your life for the pet's LIFE TIME allow for you to have the pet the entire time of it's exsistance?!
It's a tough question, but you need to think of the pet's best interest in mind because he cannot speak and tell you the answers.

Adopt A Shelter Pet

I will be the first to admit not all my pets are from the shelter, but most are. Shelter pets can be great!!! Puppies and kittens end up in shelters all the time and not only that but well trained adults with nothing wrong but merely no home end up in shelters as well. Visit a shelter, talk with a staff member and ask them about the different pets and their personalities, issues, health, ect.

Don't Have Liters of Puppies and Kittens.

It makes me SICK TO MY STOMACH when irresponsible non-licensed breeders have liters of puppies and kittens. One of my least favorite things is stumbling upon a Facebook status with an image of a couple newborn kittens saying how cute they are and asking if anyone wants any. Better yet when people tag me in it because they know how much I love animals.

Just because the pet was free...doesn't mean it will be cheap.
Pet supplies are expensive. Vet bills are expensive. Food is expensive.

You may not think it, but doing all the steps above will tremendously help the world's animal population. I thank you over and over again for being a noble and great person if you remember and live by these steps.

No one is perfect, mistakes happen, but if you educate yourself you will do your pet a huge favor.

Be a voice for the voiceless.
